Dollhouses
I started building dollhouses about five years ago. While searching around the net for ideas and advice, I noticed that many dollhouse hobbyists were also cat lovers. This may be purely coincidence, but it occurs to me that cats and dollhouses just go together.

My cats love the "Godzillaness" of being almost as big as the dollhouses.
They are curious about every aspect of building and furnishing the houses and are quite happy to sit and watch for hours. They love to snuggle into empty rooms. (Unfortunatly sometimes they choose furnished rooms). They even enjoy occasionally destroying a piece of miniature furniture.
This fall we decided to use my dollhouse building skills and Ben's construction expertise to build a playhouse for our cats. We enclosed it in a 8'x16' chain link kennel with a wooden floor. It is six feet tall and two stories high with a covered front porch and plexiglass windows. We put in lights for heat and so we could see inside the house at night. They have a tunnel from the house to the kennel so they can come and go as they please. The cats LOVE it! Unfortunatly, about a month after we finished the house it snowed, and the snow and ice has stayed for the entire winter. The cats took one look at the snow and decided that we were nuts if we thought they were going out in that stuff! This spring we are hoping to put a webcam on the house and add it to our site.

Here is PK checking out the great outdoors.
