Welcome

Asia

ALIASES: Asia-Boo, Girly-girl, Googly-Bear. She also answers to DammitAsiaYouStopThatRightNow!!!

LIKES: Ben, mischief in any form, spaghetti sauce, climbing up on the highest furniture and knocking things off.

DISLIKES: Sharing her space with Otis, women (except for me, fortunately), loud action movies, having us leave her for more than a few hours.

Kneading

We found poor little Siamese mix Asia after she had been picked up by a friend. Our friend was looking for a good home for the poor little waif. Asia was truly pitiful! She had been hanging around the parking lot of a coffee shop. She was tiny, and looked so frightened. Her fur was dry. rough, and uneven. It looked like her whiskers had been burned or cut off. Her poor tail was broken so badly that she still has no feeling in it. She looked liked she had been beaten up badly. We thought she was feral at first, but then noticed that she was declawed, indicating that she had been owned by someone. Our hearts broke! How could we possibly leave this tiny helpless creature homeless? We took her to the vet to have her tested for FIV and FvLV and she was free of both. She appeared to be too young to be spayed at that time.

We were really worried about bringing this pathetic, weak, clawless little girl to live with our our bigger, stronger, healthier, fully clawed cats! Both of us suffered from guilt pangs when we introduced her into our kitty community. We felt lke we were throwing her to the wolves.

The cat is PSYCHO! I suspect she is not even really a cat. I think she is Satan dressed in a cat suit. It took a few days before she had all of the other cats totally intimidated. She bit Trouble on her back so badly that it required a trip to the vet, surgery for several abscesses, and weeks of antibiotic therapy. All of the other cats spent most of their time in hiding from Asia. To save our other cats, we moved Asia to a separate part of the house.

Ben loves her. He thinks she is absolutely precious. He hesitated to have her spayed because as an indoor cat, she was not at risk for having a litter of unwanted kittens, and he worried that her personality would change (hmmm...). In fact he adored her so much that he mentioned actually letting her have a litter of kittens! Wouldn't it be precious to have a whole crop of little Asias running around? I was appalled! It would be like unleashing little imps of Satan into this world. Armageddon would be sure to follow! After about the fourth time she went in to heat, I told Ben that in the interest of keeping me from drop kicking Asia into next week, it was time to have her spayed. He did, and I think she is still a little miffed about it. She is a bit easier to live with. She has become a beautiful, sleek, little lady. She's still a little bit psychotic!

Even though she was a bully to the other cats, it was clear that she was a bit lonely for feline company. We made the decision to bring Otis into our home. Otis was a street cat. He is more than twice Asia's size and by the looks of his torn and battered ears, has been in more than his share of fights. He also has all of his claws. If any cat could hold his own against Asia, it would be Otis. He does pretty well fending off the little monster! They are good friends MOST of the time. Asia is still a little ticked of at us for bring him home though.
